Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC)

The competition is the biggest of its kind for startups and innovative ventures to showcase their products and services on international platforms. With the participation of 200 countries, the initiative is considered the most diverse startup pitch competition. The EWC will award the winning companies with $1 million in cash prizes.

Running since 2019, Qatar is participating in the fourth edition of the EWC. Qatar Development Bank (QDB) is the national organizer of the competition in Qatar and is responsible for managing the national finals for startups to advance all the way through to the EWC global finals. Qatar’s top three winners will receive prize money of $100 thousand.

Eligibility Criteria

Registration is free of charge.
All startups from around the world are welcomed.
The company must be licensed and registered in the country in which it operates.
The company must be less than seven (7) years old at the date of the global finals.
EWC previous winners cannot participate again in EWC 2022.
Employees of organizers, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, suppliers, and immediate family members cannot participate in the competition.

CATEGORIES AND INTERNATIONAL PRIZES

We welcome all enterprises from all stages as follows.

Idea Stage: Open for entrepreneurs who have a startup idea that they would like to develop.
Early Stage: Open for ventures aiming to accelerate their growth and improve their businesses.
Growth Stage: Open for existing projects that have a name in the market with sufficient capital.

The top three winners from Qatar will move on to the global finals to stand a chance to win prize money and in-kind support as follows:

Idea Stage: They can stand a chance to win prize money of $50 thousand as well as educational and training material estimated at $100 thousand.
Early Stage: They have a chance to win prize money of $300 thousand as well as educational and training material estimated at $100 thousand.
Growth Stage: They can stand a chance to win prize money of $300 thousand and get to know the most famous international coaches and mentors in their company's field of work.

Benefits of Participation

An opportunity to showcase your business in the international arena and benefit from the knowledge networks that the competition offers.
All participants will benefit from the EWC Accelerates, which is a virtual training program that will boost entrepreneurs’ chances to win in the national finals to advance to the next rounds.
Upon registration, all participants will benefit from an extensive list of educational and guidance materials.
The top 100 global finalists will win in-kind prizes estimated at $100 thousand from Amazon, Freshworks, Google Cloud, HubSpot, Stripe, Zoom, and others.
Enterprises that make it to the EWC qualifiers will win in-kind prizes and ample services such as joining GEN Club for talented international entrepreneurs.

Timeline

Acceptance of applications begins on July 28 and ends on September 5, 2022.
The accepted enterprises will be informed at the beginning of September.
The national competition in Qatar will be held on September 20.
There will be intensive training workshops for winners leading to the global stage.
The EWC global finals will be held in March 2023 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Applications should be submitted via the EWC platform while QDB will oversee the national finals in Qatar, under the supervision of a specialized jury that represents some of QDB’s national partners. After that, the top three winners from Qatar will move on to the global finals.
