Organized by Qatar Development Bank, the Investment Forum is an annual event that taps into entrepreneurship investment opportunities from Qatar and the world. The Investment Forum aims to connect entrepreneurs with investors and sources of capital interested in investing in a variety of entrepreneurship projects.
The event addresses a wide spectrum of investors interested in venturing into projects in various sectors and of different scales of investment and stages of growth. The Forum aims to attract angel investors, corporate investors, incubators, accelerators, venture capital funds, and investment banks from Qatar and the world.
Qatar Development Bank aims to take this Forum to a regional level to serve as a platform for investors and entrepreneurs alike, and to ultimately promote the state of Qatar as an investment hub that supports entrepreneurship and encourages investments, with the main goal of achieving community development, and contributing to the growth and diversification of the local economy.
Qatar Development Bank organizes its second annual Investment Forum on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Msheireb (https://goo.gl/maps/HcPfjCVfcbW2RE6u9). This year's edition presents series of opportunities that serve to connect investors to entrepreneurs and decision makers from the investment and business spectrum from Qatar and the world.
The theme of the Investment Forum 2019 is “Connect | Invest | Grow”, and it supports the Forum's objectives directed towards easing and maximizing interaction between the wider investment community.
Connect: This year's Investment Forum will gather a larger number of entrepreneurs and investors from Qatar and the world to discuss solutions to cooperate and invest in projects and enterprises participating from Qatar and beyond. This year, the Forum will offer a better interactive environment by providing investors and entrepreneurs with the opportunity to communicate and interact on one common ground and under one roof.
Invest: This year's Investment Forum offers a larger segment of promising startups under the “QBIC Investors Series” program. Selected companies for this year include a selection of promising Qatari and international enterprises of different sizes and growth stages, giving investors the opportunity to have a wider variety of options when identifying the most suitable investment opportunities. The Forum team will provide the necessary support in facilitating discussions on the best practices of for potential investments considerations and means of cooperation with respective entrepreneurs.
Grow: The Investment Forum 2019 aims to provide an interactive environment open to all visitors across all segments and interests, presenting an exceptional opportunity for all participants whether through the networking and knowledge sharing or through reaching bilateral agreements at the forum.
Julian Costley is the author of the guidebook for entrepreneurs: HOW TO: USE CROWDFUNDING. He’s an expert on raising capital, an active angel investor, and a professional chairman/NED. He was a Country Manager at Thomson Reuters, then created his own TV channel on BSB (later BSkyB), then founding CEO of France Telecom’s Globecast satellite company. He then met venture capitalist Hermann Hauser in 1998 and together they created E*TRADE UK the UK’s first all-Internet stockbroking firm and effected a trade sale at the height of the dotcom boom. Since then he has invested in 22 companies and become chairman/NED or adviser to many more focusing on the financial services, media, telecoms, and internet markets in UK, Netherlands, Scandinavia, France, Canada, and China. He’s also leading a start-up which will launch in Autumn 2019. He is an occasional lecturer/mentor/MBA course judge at London Business School, Said (Oxford) University, EDHEC (Nice), UM (Barcelona), and Skema Business School (Sophia Antipolis). He now lives back in the UK after 7 years in France. His interests/passions are his four children, design, storytelling, sailing, tennis, guitar, and opera.
