The Pre-Seed convertible Investment program serves as an early-stage fund offering to companies operating within QDB’s Incubation and Acceleration portfolio. The program is offered via a convertible investment instrument with the aim of providing access to seed capital for entrepreneurs in the post-ideation stage provided that their business is shariah-compliant.

What are the key financing terms?

  • Pre-seed funding is an investment instrument that allows funding through a convertible note that can be converted into shares at a later stage.
  • Maximum allowable funding limit is set at QAR 250,000 and is available under the following structure:

    1- Up to QAR 100K available as Cash disbursement
    2- Up to QAR 150K available as in-kind 
  • Expected profit sharing ratio is on a case-by-case basis while losses are distributed as per the contribution ratio and capped per the amount of capital invested by the Investor
  • Earned Profits will be distributed as per the ratio of the Investor equity shares agreed with the Investee while losses are shared in exactly the same proportion in which partners hold their shares in the company

The Incubation and Acceleration Department will review and verify the initial investment requirements as per the plan. Post conversion, the bank will adopt a valuation cap between 2.5-3.57 million Qatari riyals to convert its investments into shares in the company.
