Sheikh Abdullah Bin Saud Al Thani has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Development Bank since its inception in 1997. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Saud Al Thani has been the Governor of Qatar Central Bank since May 2006, starting his career there in 1982. He was Deputy Governor during 1990-2001, subsequently leaving to serve as the Chairman of the State Audit Bureau from 2001 to 2006, before assuming his current position as the Governor of QCB. He is a Council Member of the Kuala Lumpur-based Islamic Financial Services Board. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Investment Authority. He served as the President of the General Retirement and Pension Authority from May 2006 – September 2009. H.E. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Saud Al Thani has a dual Master of Business Administration degree, with specializations in Banking and Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Economics.
Dr Ibrahim B. Ibrahim was the Economic Advisor to H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani between 1988 and 2013. Dr Ibrahim continues his role as the Economic Advisor to H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani. From 2006 to 2011, H.E. Dr Ibrahim was appointed by H.H. the Father Emir, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and H.H. the Emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, to establish the General Secretariat for Development and Planning, now the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, and serve as its first Secretary General. Under the visionary guidance and support of H.H. the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and H.H. the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and under Dr Ibrahim’s esteemed and distinguished leadership, GSDP led the coordination of the Qatar National Vision 2030, and subsequently the preparation of Qatar’s First National Development Strategy 2011-2016, to help achieve the goals and objectives of the Vision. These two forward-looking and ground-breaking documents have provided the foundations for the State of Qatar’s social, human, economic and environmental development planning. Dr Ibrahim has a wide experience in the oil and gas industry. He is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of RasGas Company, the Vice-Chairman of the Board of Qatar Gas Company Limited, the Vice-Chairman of Abdulla Ben Hamad Al-Attiya Foundation for Energy & Sustainable Development, the Vice-Chairman for Qatar Development Bank and the Chairman of Qatar University Research Advisory Board. He is also a member of the Board of Qatar Central Bank, a member of the Advisory Board of the Qatar Foundation, a member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment and a member of the Board of Qatar Petroleum. Dr Ibrahim was an Associate Professor of Business, Economics and Quantitative Methods at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, USA from 1970 to 1978, Director of the Economic Department of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries, Kuwait from 1979 to 1986 and a Senior Economist at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, Oxford, England from 1986 to 1988. Dr Ibrahim obtained a Ph.D. in Business Administration from New York University in 1969 and his scholarly research has been published internationally in the areas of forecasting, business economics, and energy economics.Awards:
MR Saeed Mubarak Al Kawari has been on the QDB Board since 1996 and is also the Director of Industrial Development at the Ministry of Energy and Industry. He held many leadership positions, the most notable being that of General Manager of Qatar National Cement 1989-1994.MR Saeed Al-Kawari has a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of North Carolina, USA and a Diploma in Public Administration. He has attended several specialized courses in the fields of senior management.
